School Community
Counselors

In collaboration with the school team, the SCC worker provides support and accompanies parents. With their help, they identify the primary issues and needs of the family and refers them to local neighbourhood resources.

Thematic workshops are also organized according to needs (How the school system works, communication, family discipline, housing, etc.). The SCC worker becomes the resource person for these families in order to facilitate communication and ensure good follow-up between the school team and the administration.

The project is managed by CJE Lachine, which serves one school in the West Island, six schools in LaSalle and three schools in Lachine: ​

 

  • Secondary Schools Dorval-Jean-XXIII in the West Island, Dalbé-Viau in Lachine and Cavelier De LaSalle in LaSalle Très-Saint-Sacrement and Martin-Bélanger Elementary schools in Lachine, L'Eau-Vive, PetitCollège, Terre-des-jeunes, Laurendeau-Dunton and Pierre-Rémy in LaSalle.
     

  • 417 families or parents reached: 220 individual interventions and 197 people in group workshops
     

  • Partners: Elementary and secondary schools, community organizations, the Centre de pédiatrie sociale, Sun Youth, the Centre de service scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys and several health professionals.
